2014

Can you feel it? The cup has left the nation...

The cup as such to Madrid... Well in fact a replica cup to Spain, cause the real one (in its LV bag) always stays with the FIFA mob in Switzerland.

...And the world cup as an event has now moved on to Brazil where the next clash to grab the world champion title will be held in 2014.

Numbers' game

2-0 For Bafana Bafana's last German training camp game against Jamaica.

90th Spot-drop for Bafana Bafana on FIFA's world ranking list.

1. That's the new position for Brazil on that same FIFA list. They've overtaken Spain from the poleposition.

1-0 Victory for Barca but not good enough to overcome their 3-1 defeat in Milan last week. Inter will now face Bayern Munich in a classic champions league final next month in Madrid.

2 Goals. That's what Liverpool needs tonight against Atletico Madrid. If they get that and keep the visitors from scoring, then the Reds will play the Europa Cup final in Hamburg next month against either Fulham or Hamburg.

21 Degrees in Joburg today. That's what's promised. We need some sun to dry up the humidity.

42 Days to go to world cup kick off.

Samba

Bafana Bafana likes the samba. They keep playing well against local teams in their Brazilian training camp. The samba is giving them the right rhythm.

And/or maybe the female Brazilians coming to watch the African players stimulates Bafana Bafana to higher levels. Or maybe it's just being in the home of the ultimate world champions that brings the best out of our lads. Who knows what the exact ingredients are but it seems, at least sitting the other side of the Atlantic, that it's going well.

Let's hope they don't abandon those tricks and positive attitudes when landing back home. It's still gonna be hard to hit the 2nd round but where there is hope there is.... well... hope.

Fiestas across Spain

So in 100 days + 1 month, Brazil has just lost 3-2 to Spain in the 2010 world cup final in a sold out Soccer City. Liverpool ace Torres was the main man with 2 goals. Kaka, Ronaldinho and all the other Brazilian superstars just couldn't stop the Spanish armada.

And the streets of Spain start celebrating. All night long. Summer fiestas across Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Zaragoza, Bilbao,...

And that was the world cup 2010. That was....
